October News

Looking back at the month:
The month of September was a very busy and successful month. Our classroom routines and
expectations have been established and we are enjoying getting to know each other and learning together.
Our timetable has been finalized. Mrs. Pike will be teaching Media Literacy and Library this year. Our library book exchange day is Day 2.  Books can go home and should be returned the following week so that your child can select a new book each time we have library. We have gym with Mrs. Webber on Days 1 and 3. Students should wear comfortable clothing and running shoes on these days. If possible please consider sending a pair of indoor running shoes to be kept at school. Mrs. Burkhart will be teaching Drama and Dance on Day 4 this year.

Curriculum Connection:
Our school is focusing on Learning Goals which clearly identify what students are expected to know and be able to do. We are developing success criteria in Language that students can readily understand. Ask your children what their learning goals are and the expected success critera. Please check out the different subject pages to see specific learning goals.

Home Connections:
Parents may support their child's program by encouraging reading for pleasure on a daily basis. I will be sending home a homework book starting soon. In these books will be a small task for your child to do at home. These will be based on what we have learned and practiced in class. This work is always optional but encouraged to help your child reinforce and practice what we are learning in class.
Please remember to check and initial your child's agenda each night for messages. Notes to me in the agenda will be recieved and checked each morning. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at the school (519) 969-7610. I am usually available before school between 8am and 8:45 and after school from 3:30 until 4pm.
